Street art at the dorms

Palacký University is regularly involved in the organisation of the Street Art Festival. A reminder are the large murals on the buildings of the student dormitories on Šmeralova Street.

The most famous one is the mural of first Czechoslovak president, T.G. Masaryk, shedding tears over the current political situation. Photographs of the work, made by street artist ChemiS, garnered a lot of media and social attention a few years ago.

During the 2019 Street Art Festival, two spectacular 17-metre-tall murals painted by artists from the UK and Spain were added to the walls of the dormitory, and in 2021 they were complemented by two more paintings by artists FatHeat and Vidam. The latest contribution to the collection is a symbolic portrait of František Palacký created by the renowned Czech painter Zbyněk Linhart on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of the University of Olomouc. Come and see the explosion of extremely photogenic modern street art in Olomouc.
