Geopark
Have you ever touched a rock 600 million years old? You can do that in front of the Faculty of Science building, and you don’t even have to be a geologist. The Geopark, which features more than 40 rock exhibits, is open to everyone, regardless of their depth of knowledge about igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks.
These rocks rock! In concise and interactive form, you’ll learn which rocks comprise the local regions of Moravia and Silesia. Each specimen is remarkable and unique – in size, shape, or composition.
The Geopark neighbors water reservoirs with artificial ponds, surrounded by aquatic plants and meadow flowers. During the growing season, you can observe dragonflies, butterflies, bees, and other pollinators here. If you enjoy the sight of colorful flowers and winged insects, you can also visit insect meadows, which are regularly sown near the neighboring Envelopa dormitory campus.
