Zoo exhibition corner
Adjacent to the main entrance into the university campus in Holice, the building no. 47 contains a small paradise for exotic animal lovers. Workers of the Department of Ecology and Environmental Sciences keep live specimen of over one hundred and thirty species in their premises. Their vivaria are inhabited, among others, by African arboreal lizards, yellow-bellied turtles, Mexican amphibious axotls or Peters's elephantnose fish, which uses electric signals to find prey.
The zoo exhibition is not ordinarily open to the public – you need to make an appointment via an online form on the department website. School filed trips and other organized groups can arrange a tour with commentary by the scientific staff. We recommend you combine your visit of Holice campus with also seeing the nearby university park.
