Holice Park
Who would want to go on a trip to Holice, a district of Olomouc which is merely an industrial zone with a motorway exit and a shopping centre? Come on! As part of the naturalist campus, it has a park where you will find the exact opposite of a busy urban periphery.
In the network of paths surrounded by dozens of plant species, you can find a butterfly meadow, an insect hotel, and a beetle garden. You can sit on the wooden pier by the self-cleaning organic pond. And if you’re lucky, you’ll encounter wild animals – no worries, these ones are safe. Hedgehogs, wild ducks, newts, and grass snakes like to travel to the park from the nearby fields and meadows. No wonder this oasis of peace won an honourable mention in the 2021 Park of the Year competition.
